Some of these media are obviously more "conventional" than others. For instance, CD-ROM can be identified as work that is delivered via the dissemination medium of a silver disc. However, it is probably more useful to regard CD-ROM in terms that focus on the nature of that recorded on the disc itself rather than fixate on the material delivery system - for surely the silver disc (just as vinyl in the music industry) will shortly disappear, and with no particular effect on the content itself. The main characteristic of digital media is that the content is the same, regardless of the means of storage or distribution.
